Weekly Church Sign No. 2

You are more moral than your god.
If your children, whom you knew everything about including the number of hairs on their heads, disobeyed you, would you lock them in your basement and punish them for all of eternity?
Yet people claim this to be the original source of morality? People say that without this influence, morality would perish? No, morality continues in spite of the influence from religion, not because of it.

I was going to respond to the previous post, but it has been removed by the author.

However, if the author is still reading this:

If you read the Bible, this is exactly what it says.

I would have loved to have read the initial ranting, er, post. It is fun to see monotheists verbally contort themselves in order to keep up the fraudulent claims of authorship all good things and simultaneous exoneration from responsibility for any single bad thing.

Another apt metaphor for the god/believer relationship is that of domestic abuse. "See what you made me do?!" the abuser shouts after assaulting their significant other. And the significant other takes it, all too often, believing the punishment both deserved and righteous. It is a hideous absurdity that people can even brainwash themselves.
